#Blogmas Day 9: WWW Wednesday – December 9, 2020

Round three of WWW Wednesday and Day 9 of Blogmas! For my last WWW Wednesday post, click here. For more information about Blogmas, you can read my introduction post.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme created by Taking on a World of Words, where you answer the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What have you recently finished?
  • What are you reading next?

If you’re interested in information about the trigger/content warnings, tropes, and representation found in any of the following books, you can search them on BookTriggerWarnings.com

Currently Reading

Black Witch Magic by Mila Nicks

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

This is a book I got approved for on NetGalley and I’ve been trying to up my percentage. I have 4 blog tour books on there that I can’t review until my day on the tour, but this one is not blog-tour related.

So far, I’m enjoying this an average amount. I’m not a fan of the writing style nor how certain plots are unravelling, but I’ve got my fingers crossed!

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

This book is SO HUGE and Rob chose it for my monthly TBR, so I decided to get started on it early on. It’s extremely well-written, but I’m getting overwhelmed with how many names and relationships are being thrown my way. Rob says that it’s good at reinforcing previous names/events, so I’m hoping that’s enough for my terrible memory.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

Yeah, I haven’t made ANY progress on this book since last week because I’m a hot mess. I’m hoping to get back into it soon and hopefully finish it this month (or week).

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

This is another book that I featured last week that I haven’t made any progress on. I’m in a bit of a reading slump if you couldn’t tell. Basically all the books I’ve been reading recently are for blog tours. I’m around a third way through with this, I think, so it shouldn’t take too long to finish it. I’ll just have to settle in one day and get it done.

Recently Finished

A Bucket List of Sorts by Leah Battaglio

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

I received a free copy of this book from the Author in partnership with Book Tasters. Going into this book, I thought I wasn’t going to like it much, but it actually ended up being pretty great. It covers some heavy topics but the message that it presents of being open to new experiences was really nice.

You Never See Rainbows at Christmas by Elaine Spires

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was a blog tour book with Rachel’s Random Resources. The writing wasn’t my style, but the overall message of the book was extremely powerful. This is not only a book about learning to move forward from past trauma/mistakes, but it’s also deals with issues of homelessness and classism.

Christmas at Moonshine Hollow by Angela Britnell

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

Rating: 3 out of 5.

This was another blog tour book with Rachel’s Random Resources. I was pretty excited to see how many Christmas-related novels I signed up for this month because I love the Christmas atmosphere.

I never really felt like I connected with any of the characters in this novel, which is why I had a hard time getting into the story. It was, however, really refreshing to see how emotionally mature these characters were.

Reading Next

I’ve got two tours coming up in the next week so I’m planning on reading those very soon.

The Spark by Jules Wake (Tour date: December 11)

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

Christmas at the Marshmallow Cafe by CP Ward (Tour date: December 14)

Purchase on Amazon (affiliate link)

Do you see any books you’ve read or want to read? Stay tuned for next week’s installment for an updating on my December reading!

I think Priory of the Orange Tree is going to have to go on my list. I am seeing it everywhere today and I am feeling FOMO bad right now.
